National Institutes of Health Announcements: FY07 Funding, CY07 Salary Cap, CY07 Stipend Levels

Recently the National Institutes of Health issued several announcements that may affect proposals or awards in campus units:

1. Non-competing research grants for FY2007 will be funded at 97.1% of the committed FY2007 level. Different policies apply to Career, NRSA or SBIR/STTR awards. See http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-049.html for further information.

2. The NIH Salary cap for the year beginning January 1, 2007 has been established at $186,600. This translates to a rate cap of $139,950 for a nine-month salary. http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-051.html

3. NRSA stipend levels for FY2007 will remain at the FY2006 level. Note that the maximum amount (tuition/stipend/health insurance) that will be awarded for graduate research assistants continues to be that of a zero level postdoc ($36,996). See http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-052.html.
