Research Administration Round Table: Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 1:30 in G10 Biotech

This month we are pleased to have folks from the Office of Research Integrity & Assurance (ORIA) and the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects joining us.

Research with Human Participants

E. Ray Stinson, Ph.D., Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance & Director, Office of Research Integrity and Assurance [Slides]

Sarah Demo, Coordinator, Institutional Review Board for Human Participants [Slides]

Matthew Aldridge, Education Coordinator, Office of Research Integrity and Assurance [Slides]

With the creation of the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA), Cornell has initiated a renewed commitment to ethical research standards and a culture of compliance at the University. One of the central areas of focus is the responsible conduct of research with human participants. ORIA representatives will discuss the federal regulations that govern human participant research, how to determine what needs to come to the Institutional Review Board for Human Participants (IRB) for review, IRB procedures and types of review, and some areas of research that may require special consideration (e.g., research with databases, cell lines or genetic materials, etc.).
