July 1 Deadlines

July 1 is a significant deadline date for the National Institutes of Health. This year that date is a Saturday, making the deadline advance to Monday, July 3. Given that July 4 is a University holiday, we expect that many staff department, college and university offices, and in the federal government, will take July 3 as a vacation day. Sponsored Program Services, like the rest of Cornell, is open on July 3, however we will have several people off that day. We are reminding departments of the published deadline of five working days for proposal submission, and to ensure that all proposals are submitted successfully we urge people to provide us with proposals due on July 3 no later than Thursday, June 29. This is especially important for proposals being submitted to the NIH via grants.gov, where problem resolution may be difficult on July 3.

So that we may make appropriate plans we also ask that by June 22 units notify their Grant and Contract Officer of any proposals that will be submitted on or before July 3, and to indicate whether these are electronic or paper submission.
